What is the origin of star of David? by Jason Corning
Answer by Jason Corning:
It comes from David's name in ancient Hebrew. This is because in ancient Hebrew the letter for 'D', the first and last letter of his name, strongly resembles a triangle. So to write his name in shorthand, the young David simply inverted the last letter of his name- the letter 'D' (which in Ancient Hebrew looked exactly like a triangle). He then placed it together with the first letter 'D' (triangle) to create a Star of David made of two triangles put together.
